Research

Tariq leads erdos-77, the cell whose problem statement is internal-review compounding — how to make the lab's distributed peer review compound faster than internal review at scale, which is one of the load-bearing bets behind alphabell's structural openness. The cell is unusual in that its 'research output' is the operational machinery of the lab itself.

He has been with alphabell since 2020 and works closely with most axis stewards on the question of how the cross-cell review pools should be staffed and rotated. The current rotation cadence — quarterly, with a two-year stewardship term — is partly a result of his cell's findings.

Tariq is based in Doha. He is the lab's primary contact for the QCRI-related compute partnership.

Background

Ph.D. computer science, Qatar Computing Research Institute / HBKU, 2015.

Prior to alphabell: QCRI; Wayfarer Institute; Praxis AI Studies.
