Research

Ananya is responsible for the evaluation framework used in the 70k-env study — the set of benchmarks, holdouts, and transfer measurements that turned the cell's intuitions about pretraining into reportable numbers. She is unusually willing to litigate the question of what counts as transfer, and the 70k-env study's robustness to that litigation is partly her achievement.

She is a co-author on the 70k-env paper and on the lab's compositional latent dynamics result. She has been with alphabell since 2019.

Ananya works primarily from Kolkata. She is on the world-models axis's cross-cell review pool and chairs the pool's quarterly evaluation-methodology review.

Background

Ph.D. computer science, IIT Kharagpur, 2014. Postdoc at MIT (2014-2016).

Prior to alphabell: MIT CSAIL; Volterra Cognition; Pythia Lab.
